Key Accomplishments

  • Approved short-term contracts with Diana Repko to assist with financial accounting, reports to Treasurer
  • Approved contracts for 2015 conference keynote speaker Martha Creek, and featured artist David Roth at Potawatomi Inn. Thanks to conference planning chair Doris Hoskins and her outstanding team, our theme is Sacred Connections
  • Attended monthly conference calls and 3-day Face-to-Face board meeting in May, for the purpose of growing and serving our region with joy and excellence
  • Developed and approved 2016 Budget
  • Approved paid book-keeper salary within the 2016 budget, reporting to Treasurer; a role description and agreement is to be developed based on best practices of other regions and recommendations from the finance committee
  • Developed and approved Scholarship process and application form
  • Updated and approved GLURC Policy Manual
  • LRDT is actively seeking 3 nominees for 2 positions and an alternate who are completing their service in September:
    • Joslyn Mason, YFM Liaison, completes 2 year appointment
    • Josette Jackson, Treasurer, completes 1 year appointment
    • Sandie Vanik, Conference Planning, completes 1 term plus 1 year as Board Alternate
  • Participated on Regional Relationships Task Team (RRTT) Dialog Calls to help identify, enhance and strengthen relationships within our organization. In Spring 2016 the RRTT will recommend structures to provide better flow of communication, collaboration, training, problem solving, consulting and resource sharing among all levels of the organization  
  • Welcomed 3 new LUTs to the region and planning for the Regional Conference
    • Theme for the fall LUT Luncheon is Connecting Through Resources...this will be a networking time with all sharing about classes, books, new ideas, etc.
    • Will appoint an alternate LUT representative to replace Liesa Chase, who has been accepted into the Detroit Ministerial Program and has one year remaining in her GLURC term
  • Offered YFM Training, contracted with Diane Venzera:
    • Teacher focused webinar: “The Fully Engaged Child," January 13, 2015
    • Teen Ministry focused webinar: “Engaging the Teenage Brain,” March 3, 2015
    • Regional Training: “From Roots to Wings,” Kalamazoo, April 18, 2015
    • Regional Training: “From Roots to Wings,” Des Plaines, Cancelled due to low enrollment
