New YFM Training Director Starts Nov. 1

By Rev. Ted Schneider, GLURC Board President

On behalf of the Unity Worldwide Ministries Great Lakes Region Board of Trustees, I am happy to announce the addition of our newest employee, Liesa Chase. Starting Nov.1, 2016, Liesa will be our new Youth and Family Ministries (YFM) Training Director.  Her first work will be to join Rev. Diane Venzera, our outgoing YFM Training Director, for the Nov. 5 training, “The Transformative Sunday Experience.” The training will be held at Unity of Garden Park, Cincinnati from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join Rev. Diane and Liesa for this powerful training and see the passing of the light for our GLURC youth. Click here details and registration info.

We placed our advertisement for the new YFM Training Director on Sept. 27 with a final date to apply of Oct 17. We received six applicants that met all of the requirements including LUT or minister and Certified Spiritual Educator. Over the next three days we interviewed the applicants and checked their references.  It will come to no surprise to anyone associated with YFM in the Great Lakes region that we have an amazing depth of excellence in YFM.  We were truly impressed by all six applicants.

After discussing the applicants and the results of the interviews and references, the YFM team, Rev. Vareta Foster, GLURC YFM Board Liaison, Rev. Eileen Patra, senior minister Unity of Livonia and former GLURC YFM consultant and Rev. Ted Schneider, GLURC Board President recommended Liesa for the position. The recommendation was unanimously approved by the board on Oct. 24.

Liesa’s enthusiasm for this work, especially her new position as YFM training director, combined with her many years of inspiring service to our youth and families, and her experience in studying under Rev. Diane, will help her be successful as our new director.  Please feel free to reach out to her and congratulate her.
